Part of a four person instructional design team, this web-based course came out of numerous offerings of a synchronous version of this course.
This course includes:
- foundational knowledge about what a land acknowledgement is and why we do them
- exploring and addressing some of the barriers many learners experience when doing land acknowledgements
- developing your own land acknowledgement
As you move through this course, you will engage with readings, video clips and other resources to help you along your learning journey. These materials also include some examples of land acknowledgements being done by UBC staff and a set of reflection questions at the end of each module intended to guide you in the process of creating your own land acknowledgement.
At the end of this course, participants will:
- Recognize why land acknowledgements are an important part of our work at UBC.
- Identify your positionality and responsibility when offering land acknowledgements and engaging with Indigenous communities.
- Utilize resources and educational tools needed to deliver land acknowledgements
