Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls Research Guide

In June 2019, the MMIWG National Inquiry released their final report, finding that persistent and deliberate human and Indigenous rights violations and abuses are the root cause behind Canada’s staggering rates of violence against Indigenous women, girls and 2SLGBTQQIA people. This guide is to help in locating resources about Missing & Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls.

Through my work experience, I researched and created this guide after seeing multiple reference questions and research papers being done by students in this area.

One area of this guide that is new to research guides at the library is the Current News/Social Media tab, where non-scholarly articles and information.

Learning Significance

  1. This allowed me to focus on my research skills. As I built this guide, I had collaboration help from my coworkers and my supervisor who helped with suggestions. After presenting it to the library staff, it went live in September 2019 and is constantly being updated.
